REST IN PEACE – An Intimated conversation with Teresa Ferreira

....aqui há vinte anos, assim com um ligeiro pifo, eu e uma amiga minha estávamos a falar, a brincar, disto e dinheiro ao mesmo tempo, e ela disse-me:
- Teresa
...e ela depois foi viver para o Japão (e não a vejo há muito tempo)
- Jura-me que se eu morrer na minha coroa vais escrever: “POBRETE MAS ALEGRETE”
-eu disse: Tá bem, Tá prometido, escrevo “POBRETE MAS ALEGRETE” e rimos muito.
Encontrei-a a pouco tempo, há dois anos três, já da minha idade e muito mais formal, e eu disse:
- olha Luisa, temos de falar aqui uma coisa, se tu morreres, queres mesmo “POBRETE MAS ALEGRETE” ?
E ela disse:
- ai não Teresa, ah… pronto, “on change”!

About twenty years ago, slightly drunk, me and a friend were talking, joking about this and about money at the same time and she told me: “Teresa”

And she then moved to Japan (and I hadn’t seen her in a long time)

“Promise me that if I die you’ll write on my grave ‘Poor but Happy”

And I said: ok, I promise I’ll write ‘Poor but Happy” and we laughed a lot.

I met her some years ago, older and much more formal and I said:

“Look Luísa, we need to talk about something; if you die, do you really want me to write ‘poor but happy?”
“Please don’t Teresa. Ah ok… on change!”
