Talking about Death - The Pornography of Death I.1 - Violent Death on Television


The daily display of violent death on television only confirms the diagnosis. Commentators such as anthropologist Geoffrey Gorer have noted that our preoccupation with video violence is a manifestation of the "pornography of death."
Out of touch with death as a natural and universal phenomenon, we become fascinated with the display of death in unnatural forms.
