Memento Mori I.2 - German Soldier Death Cards



The following shows examples of German military "Death Cards" that served as mementoes for family and friends of deceased soldiers. (This tradition also occurred in civilian life.)
Usually these mementoes came printed on small cards with a photo and information of the deceased on one side and, typically, a gravesite or religious theme printed on the other side. It should not surprise anyone that many German soldiers and their families practiced the Christian faith.
