Concerning death in relationship to one’s self, it is important to perceive that death is decisive in its finality. When it comes, there is not one moment more; "it is over." Furthermore, death is decisive in its absolute certainty and equality: not only does it come to all, but it makes all equal, obliterating the distinctions that we make so much of in life. And death is decisive in its radical uncertainty.
