DEATH AND THE MAIDEN III – Male Figures







The use of these compelling nude figures, especially sensual images of young women (men are much more rare), was particularly common in the cemeteries of France, Portugal, Brazil, Argentine and Italy. Certainly sensuous figures are linked to a long tradition in Western art celebrating the female form in both secular and religious settings
