2006 NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE

Wearing boots 365 days/year, that is, once more, my warmest resolution for 2006.

“Think of our mutual inclination for men’s boots, rubber/leather, as a preparation for the next life when we probably shall become just that, a heavy, at least knee high, pair of rubber/leather boots and our goal to protect from outside shit and to preserve inside male sweat.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR

ONE MORE BLOG

Celso Junior

As a frequent traveller, I’ve decided to create a new blog: This blog will be a little more than a window to the world.
This new blog has the standpoint of a fetishist who always searches for the same in his visited places: Boots and Men who use them.
Let me share the pertinent information, the experiences and feelings with those having the same tastes. Of course I also do it for all curious people with open spirits.

Thus, from this January of 2006, that I introduce you ISTANBUL, each month will be dedicated to a city region or country that I visit.
So, let me invite you to know it at:
http://travellingandboots.blogspot.com/

Welcome and enjoy

When the moment of reunion arrives, Dum gets involved in a fire fight and cannot possibly reach Rumpoey in time. She is desperate: her father has married her off to a policeman. The taciturn Dum, called the 'Black Tiger' by his co-conspirators, has however not forgotten Rumpoey. He does everything in his power to reach her, but fate gets in the way: his gang leader suspects him of treachery and his blood brother turns into his greatest enemy. Will the two lovers ever meet up? This urgent question propels the melodrama forward, supported by exciting music, spectacular shootouts and heroic duels.

TALKING ABOUT RUBBER BOOTS AND MACHINE GUNS

Reference: And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2003) (TV)
Directed by Bruce Beresford
Cast: Antonio Banderas as Pancho Villa
Runtime: 112 min
Country: USA

Color: Colour

Plot Summary: Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa finds himself without adequate funding to finance his war against the military-run government. He also finds himself at odds with the Americans because of the Hearst media empire's press campaign against him. To counter both of these, he sends emissaries to movie producers to convince them to pay to film his progress and the actual battles. Producer D.W. Griffith (Colm Feore) becomes interested and sends Frank Thayer (Eion Bailey) with a film crew to develop film reels. Thayer becomes horrified and fascinated by the bandit. He finds an enigmatic individual that is both ghoulishly brutal and charmingly captivating. The resulting film became the first feature length movie, introducing scores of Americans to the true horrors of war that they had never personally seen. Thayer sold the studios on making the film despite their concerns that no one would sit through a movie longer than 1 hour by convincing them that they could raise the price of movies to ten cents, doubling the going price at that time. Contains graphic violence, including bloody executions, nudity and crude language.

REFERENCE: FILM - DJANGO 1966

DJANGO (1966)

Directed by Sergio Corbucci
Cast: Franco Nero as Django, José Bódalo as Gen. Hugo Rodriguez, Loredana Nusciak as Maria, Ángel Álvarez as Nataniele (Bartender), Gino Pernice as Jonathan (as Jimmy Douglas), Eduardo Fajardo as Major Jackson
Runtime: 91’
Country: Italy/Spain/France
Color (Eastmancolor)
Sound Mix: Mono

This is an awesome Spaghetti Western. This is the original that launched over 70 imitation and non-direct sequels. This film was also the inspiration for Robert Rodriguez's El Mariachi and Desperado.

The end shootout in the graveyard is amazing. Also, the feeling of the wind swept mud ridden streets is ever present. I respect anti-heroes of film more than the prefect hero. Django is just as cold if not colder and more relentless than the opponents he takes on and out.
The coffin is a great original touch. Also check out THE sequel Django Strikes Again (also with Franco Nero) and one of the best Django homage sequels Kill, Django Kill starring Thomas Milian.

Memorable Quotes from Django
Django: You can clean up the mess, but don't touch my coffin.
Nataniele: I sure never thought I'd end up grave-digging and not even getting paid for it, either.
Anyhow, it's better to be above ground doing that than below ground doing nothing.
Django: (to a gang) A woman shouldn't be treated in that way.
Bad Guy: What's that you said?
Django: It's not important. And if I bothered you, would you accept my apology? (shoots all five)
but my favourite one is:
Django: I know that will be difficult but the little toy over there will help us
(Next scene is the best one for me: The Federales (Mexican soldiers) are waiting for a coach bring the whores for fun, excited and horny they walk thru … surprise: a machine gun was ready for them…)

REFERENCE: FILM - IL MERCENARIO (1968)

IL MERCENARIO (1968)
Directed by Sergio Corbucci
Also Known As: A Professional Gun , Revenge of a Gunfighter (USA) , Salario para matar (Spain) , The Mercenary (USA)
Cast: Franco Nero as Sergei Kowalski, the Polish, Jack Palance as Ricciolo ('Curly'), Tony Musante as Paco Roman, Franco Giacobini as Pepote, Eduardo Fajardo as Alfonso García
Runtime: 110’
Country: Italy/Spain
Color (Technicolor)
Sound Mix: Mono

Paco (Tony Musante) is a dim-witted peasant who leads his comrades into rebellion against the oppressive Mexican military government. He hires a Polish gunfighter (Franco Nero) to help him. The two clash over tactics and a beautiful, feisty woman (Giovanna Ralli) along the way. Jack Palance is a gunfighter who is out for revenge off and on throughout the film.

This is simply one the funniest spaghettis out there. It's nothing big and bold; just an entertaining two-hour buddy flick. Franco Nero and Musante have great chemistry as two completely different men thrown into a situation together, in which each makes the best of things for himself. Palance is an ultra-weird gunslinger, who's trying to steal some gold. He doesn't know the rebels are holding it, though, and there's a very embarrassing moment after they capture him. The climactic gunfight in a bullring had me cheering. Eduardo Fajardo makes an obligatory, but wonderfully evil villain. Watch for Raf Baldassarre as a Mexican who gets a match lit on his teeth, and an almost unrecognizable Lorenzo Robledo as a firing squad officer during the climactic escape sequence.

There's not much of a plot here, just a string of evens, which push the characters further and further. Corbucci relies on some really good performances and a great script to keep viewers on the edge of their seat. There's a lot of funny dialog, including a great scene involving a pair of dice. There's some religious references: twelve rebels and Nero, their "Jesus"; Nero strapped to a cross when captured; rebels masquerade as monks during a religious assembly to surprise the enemy, etc.
Ennio Morricone's music comes out full force in this film, with a great rousing opening theme, and some truly epical-sounding brass in the climactic gunfights near the end.

There are also a number of slam-bang action scenes set amid desolate villages and such, with lots of Mexican soldiers getting machine-gunned and plenty of big explosions. It's also so rapidly edited that I can't help but be drawn into the action. These are all filmed with a decent amount of extras and in a number of authentic-looking Almeria locations.

The film has been beautifully restored, with fresh, accurate and intense colours and a nicely remastered soundtrack. It's also great to see in widescreen, the only way to capture the scope and immensity of some scenes.

Unfortunately the DVD, titled PROFESSIONAL GUN, has a terrible quality.

SHOTS by Celso Junior

ABOUT RUBBER BOOTS AND MACHINE GUNS. (ver arquivos)
